Dr Simmone Major BVMS (Hons) - Head Veterinarian

Simmone is a veterinarian who has worked at Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic since 1998 when she moved to Melbourne from Tasmania with her husband. She has 2 children and a Dobermann, Delphi and a Russian Blue cat, Pog . Delphi was hand reared from the age of 3 days old and comes to work with Simmone every day. Simmone has a particular interest in small animal medicine and soft tissue surgery.


Dr Charles Foster BVSC (Hons) - Veterinarian

Charles grew up in Gippsland and studied at the University of Melbourne Veterinary School, graduating with honours in 1985. He has practiced in New Zealand, England and Australia in a variety of practice types, starting in mixed country practice and University held programs for dairy cattle, sheep and goat farms. Charles then moved into companion animal practice in Melbourne and England, including time at the Animal Emergency Centre. More recently Charles has done volunteer work in Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka. He now divides his time between clinical work, management, training and some lecturing at Melbourne University. He enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Charles is married with two children, whose lives are shared with Pebbles and Fluffy, the two super moggies and assorted fish. In his own time Charles enjoys, family, church, camping, dining, traveling, photography and reading.


Dr Anu Appan BVSc - Veterinarian

Anu graduated form Melbourne University and worked for a small animal practice in Castlemaine for some time. After some time off to travel the world. she returned to Victoria and worked at a practice in Mornington Penninsula. From there she moved into the city and began work with the Fitzroy team. Anu has a Red Heeler X "Ralph" and a special interest in Canine internal medicine.


Dr Libby Morton BVSc (Hons) BSc - Veterinarian

Libby is a veternarian grew up on a farm in North-East Victoria. She graduated from The University Of Queensland in 1999. After spending a couple of years in large animal practice in Gippsland she saw the light and moved into small animal practice. Initially spending 3 years in the United Kingdom, then settling into the wonderful city of Melbourne. Libby has what she regards as three of the best cats in the world. Basil, Polly (pictured) and Foss.


Dr Emma Rigby BVSc - Veterinarian

Emma is a veternarian who is born and bred is sydney but has been turned south to Melbourne and, it appears is here to stay. Having graduated from Sydney University in 1993, Emma has worked on the central coast and south coast of NSW and inner city of sydney.

Emma is married with two young children and a lovely old cat and a cheeky young puppy named Paddy.


Dr Jessica Neville BVSc (Hons) - Veterinarian 

Jessica is a graduate of Melbourne University. She brings to Fitzroy her extensive previous experience from veterinary clinics in Bendigo and England. Jessica has a spunky domestic short hair named "Wallace." 

 


Tina Hope CVN - Australian Certified Veterinary Head Nurse

Tina has worked at the Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic since 2002 and is the currently the nursing manager. Tina initially split her time between nursing and working in the cattery. Tina has a degree in Animal Science and has completed certificate 2 in veterinary nursing. Tina has a keen interest in anything feline related. She enjoys interacting with the animals on a daily basis and leading a great team of nurses.

Tina believes “The bond we have with our clients and their pets is what makes Fitzroy a great veterinary clinic”. Tina lives with her mischievious Burmese named "Sylar", her energetic Border Collie "Archer" and “Tilly” the snuggle puss.


Lucy Coventry - Australian Certified Veterinary Nurse

Lucy has been working at Fitzroy for only a short while and already has become an integral part of our nursing team. Lucy lives locally and can be seen out walking with her 12 year old Labrador named "Polly". Lucy has a degree in Marine Biology from James Cook Universtiy in Townsville and has recently returned from travelling throughout South America and the Middle East. Lucy is looking foward to an exciting career as a veterinary nurse.


Catherine Gaunt - Australian Certified Veterinary Nurse

Catherine moved to Melbourne in April 2007 after spending 3 years living and working in London as a secretary. She started working at Fitzroy as a receptionist and has recently started her Certificate 4 in veterinary nursing. Catherine is currently caring for a troublesome kitten named Squirt who is keeping her very busy.


Karen Slade - Veterinary Nurse and Cattery Manager

Karen has recently completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through Victoria University and has joined the Fitzroy Veterinary Hospital team as our new Cattery Manager and Veterinary Nurse.

Karen worked for many years as a high school teacher before pursuing her life long dream of working with animals. She has her hands full at home with 3 cats, 11 horses, 3 Golden Retrievers, 2 adult sons and a Husband! Saphira, her youngest Golden retriever, has just given birth to 8 beautiful puppies.


Petra Curbach - Veterinary Nurse

Petra first joined the team as a locum nurse and is now a full time Veterinary Nurse at Fitzroy. She is currently undertaking her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

After working in marketing for many years, Petra decided to pursue her passion and work with animals. Petra is a proud owner of two gorgeous British Shorthairs, "Rudy" and "Otto."


Carly Matheson CVN -  Australian Certified Veterinary Nurse

Carly started her nursing career in 1998 and began as a trainee veterinary nurse in her home town, Finley in NSW, before working in a mixed practice (small/ large animal) in Shepparton. She moved to Melbourne in 2001 where she worked as a senior nurse at a clinic in the North Eastern suburbs. Carly is married to her childhood sweetheart Bradley and they live together with Diesel the Staffy (pictured) and Austin the cat.

Carly's areas of interest include client communications, emergency nursing and critical patient care. Carly is also a keen Hawthorn supporter.


Gema Williams - Veterinary Nurse

Gema joined the Fitzroy team in June 2009 and is very passionate about animals. She grew up in regional Victoria and moved to Sydney for 6 years working as a human dental nurse and a veterinary nurse.

Currently, Gema is completing her studies to become qualified in veterinary nursing. She enjoys interacting with animals of all sizes and has a keen interest in animal dentistry and surgical nursing. Gema is the proud owner of a cat named "Preston Macgyver" who loves to lie on his back and take life easy. He also takes his worm tablet all by himself!


Sarah Licul - Trainee Veterinary Nurse

Sarah has recently joined the team at Fitzroy as Trainee Veterinary Nurse. She is fresh out of a degree in Veterinary Bioscience with a major in Zoology and is eager to pursue a career working with animals. Sarah is a keen traveller and has already seen most of Europe. She will be venturing to South Africa in 2012 to work in a wildlife rehabilitation centre for a short time.

Sarah's areas of interest include microbiology and pathology. If she's not rolling around with her German short-haired pointer, Pollux, or cuddling in bed with her ginger cat, Sebastian, Sarah is probably out on her dirt bike or watching the MotoGP.


Sarah Borg - Receptionist

Sarah is from Perth and has joined the team as a receptionist. This is a new role for Fitzroy and Sarah brings with her extensive customer and communication skills. She has just got back from traveling around Europe and is returning to study this year. She hopes to own a dog when her housing situation allows it, however she is considering a fish as the next addition to the family.


Nickee Angell - Veterinary Receptionist

Nickee comes all the way from sunny Perth in WA, where she had 7 years experience in small animal practices. Nickee's main interest lies in Ophthalmology.

At home, Nickee has an 11 year old Alaskan Malamute named Lakota and another one named Squid who is only 11 months old. She also has an 11 year old cat called Igloo.


Jodie Chandler - Cattery Attendant

Jodie is a multi tasker at the Fitzroy clinic. She is one of the Cats in the City Cattery Attendants, however you may also see her at the clinic reception. Jodie's experience lies in both customer service and pet boarding facilities.

Jodie is originally from WA and is enjoying settling into Melbourne with her lively Torti "Elexis".


Sarah Ekstein - Cattery Attendant

Sarah joined the Fitzroy team as one of our Cattery Attendants and she enjoys being surrounded by the variety of feline personalities. She is currently studying Arts at Melbourne University. When she is not pampering the felines in the cattery, Sarah enjoys spending time at home with her dog "Maggie" and her cat "Sophie".


Lauren Hall - Cattery Attendant

Lauren can often be seen giving extra chats and attention to the pets boarding in our cattery. Lauren has a sizeable brood of pets at home including a Newfoundland named "Cairne", her rabbits "Ruby" and "Nibbler, and her moggies "Oreo" and "Onyxia".
